Cuban Jazz Night

WHAT: On Thursday November 19 2009, The Beehive presents the exquisite sounds of Cuban jazz with Grammy Award winning artist Dave Samuels. As the top mallet player of his generation, Samuels is recognized for his creative approach in both the vibraphone and marimba. In 2003, he received a Grammy Award for “Best Latin Jazz Recording” for the Caribbean Jazz Project’s CD “The Gathering.”  Grammy award-winning drummer/ percussionist Mark Walker will be joining Samuels band this evening. Walker is one of the finest and most versatile players on the international touring and recording scene today. He has performed and recorded extensively with Oregon, Paquito D’Rivera, Michel Camilo, the Caribbean Jazz Project, David Leibman, and Cesar Camargo Mariano amongst others. Compliment the music with a fine Beehive meal by making dinner reservations or just stop by for drinks and enjoy the show! Boston’s Liveliest Holiday Meal!

WHAT: Join in on the festivities this year and leave the turkey to us! The Beehive will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Day dinner inside the hive! This year’s festivities will include an À la carte Thanksgiving Day menu including traditional items and some with a twist (See Menu Below) and Live music will be on tap all day and evening with the soulful and sweet sounds of Patrice Williamson from 1:00PM-3:00PM, then go international with the beautiful Italian voice of Eleonora Bianchini from  3:00PM-7:00PM. Finish the night off with the funky sounds of the AB’s from 8:00PM – 12:00AM!

WHAT:             The Beehive’s Annual Halloween Party comes a bit early this year when a sexy mad scientist takes over the Beehive and her erotic experiments turn an innocent burlesque show into a BOUDOIR OF HORRORS. On Tuesday October 27, the sultry performers of Pinchbottom Burlesque bring their mad seductive skills back to the South End for a night of shocking striptease, extravagant costumes, and ghoulish go-go… plus a burlesque retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven in the show. Let Pinchbottom stars Nasty Canasta and Jonny Porkpie, Clams Casino, Legs Malone, Ruby Valentine, and other things that go bump in the night, beckon you into the BOUDOIR OF HORRORS…it will scare your pants off! Make an entire evening of it by making a dinner reservation or by trying one of the specially prepared Halloween inspired cocktails using Kilo Kai the hottest new spice rums. Burtons Grill of South Windsor Introduces New Cocktail to Benefit Breast Cancer Research

(South Windsor, CT) – During the month of October 2009, Burtons Grill of South Windsor CT is featuring a signature “Pink Ribbon Peartini” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Burtons will be donating proceeds from the cocktail to support Breast Cancer Research. The Pink Ribbon Peartini ($10.00), combines the flavors of pear vodka, the sweetness of Peach Schnapps with fresh prickly pear puree. The sweet treat is the perfect ending to a long shopping day at The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk. The cocktails will be served all month long, exclusively at the South Windsor Burtons Grill location.

Peartini Cocktail Recipe:

1 oz Smirnoff Pear Vodka

1/2 oz Peach Schnapps

1/4 oz Prickly Pear Puree

Splash of Lemonade

In a martini shaker combine the Smirnoff Pear Vodka, Peach Schnapps and Prickly Pear Puree.  Shake well, pour into chilled martini glass, add a splash of lemonade to finish and enjoy!
